Harrachův pivovar Janovice

Harrachův pivovar Janovice is a red brick building with traditional Czech architectural features like steep roofs and decorated window frames typical of industrial structures from the 1700s and 1800s. The structure stands near Janovice Castle and retains the design language of period brewery facilities.

The brewery was founded in 1721 near Janovice Castle and served the Harrach family's production needs for over 200 years. Operations ended after World War II when new economic regulations led to the facility's closure.

The brewery demonstrates how the Harrach family's beer production shaped local life and economy across generations in this region. Such facilities were central to how many Czech communities organized their work and commerce.

The building is not open to visitors, but its exterior can be viewed from publicly accessible areas. Daylight hours offer the best opportunity to photograph the architectural details clearly.

After closure in 1946, the building served briefly as a facility for cleaning seeds. This second use shows how structures were adapted to new purposes when their original function ended.
