N-S 47 Jaroslav, Military fortification in Polom, Czech Republic.
N-S 47 Jaroslav is a two-level infantry fortification with thick reinforced concrete walls designed for military defense. The structure contains dedicated chambers for weapons and ammunition storage, along with narrow corridors that were typical for the small crew.
This fortification was built in summer 1938 as part of the Czechoslovak defense line just before the Munich Agreement changed the region. It was designed to hold 37 soldiers and served as a defensive position during that critical political moment.
Soldiers carved their support for Czechoslovakia into the rear wall, leaving a personal mark of their beliefs in this fortress. These handwritten words show how ordinary people connected to the nation during uncertain times.
The bunker sits between Polom and Sedloňov villages and is accessible by walking paths. Wear sturdy shoes since the routes are hilly and lead to the entrance through natural terrain.
In 2000 the bunker was transformed into an exhibition space by the Nachod Fortification Friends Club. The displays show documents and objects from before the Munich Agreement changed everything.
