Open air museum Zubrnice, Rural heritage museum in Zubrnice, Czech Republic.
This open-air museum spreads across a historic village in the Central Bohemian Uplands and displays traditional log houses, timber buildings, and brick structures from the region. The buildings date from different periods and show how rural construction methods developed.
The site was established in 1977 and preserves architecture and culture from a formerly German-speaking region of Bohemia. It documents rural life spanning from the 18th century into modern times.
The site shows how rural people lived and worked through a village school, country shop, and various mills that preserve traditional craftsmanship. Visitors experience how families used their homes and what trades sustained the community.
The site has several walking paths including the Hop Farm, Mill Valley, and the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, best visited in dry weather conditions. Good footwear is practical since the routes cross unpaved surfaces.
A Baroque well from 1695 was relocated here and now stands among the historic houses. Five old mills in Mill Valley still operate today and demonstrate traditional milling techniques.
