Dancing Fountain, Water cistern and sculpture group in New Town, Prague, Czech Republic.
The Dancing Fountain is a water and sculpture installation on Senovážné Square in Prague's New Town. It combines numerous water jets with artistically designed elements below to create a visual spectacle of movement and form.
Artists Anna Chromý and Jan Wagner created this contemporary work in the early 2000s. The project emerged as part of artistic renewal efforts in this district's public spaces during that period.
The fountain draws its name from a famous dance piece, and this artistic inspiration appears throughout its design and movement. Visitors can watch how the water seems to move in rhythmic patterns that echo human motion.
The fountain sits in a central location on a busy square easily reached on foot from the city center. Since the work is freely accessible year-round, visitors can stop by at any time.
The work uses a multitude of water nozzles and colored lights to create a choreographed display in the evenings. This combination of water and light allows the fountain to constantly shift appearance and make each visit feel different.
