Vilém Waldek commissioned the villa as a wedding gift for his daughter Emilie, who married Otakar Kmoch on 10 September 1929. Plans by František Janda, a pupil of Kotěra, were approved on 19 September 1932, construction ran to 1933, and final approval came in 1937. Emilie had to sell the house in the 1930s when her parents could not repay the mortgage; in 1948 it was expropriated and divided into two flats.

The villa was a wedding gift: Vilém Waldek commissioned it for his daughter Emilie, whose marriage to Otakar Kmoch took place on 10 September 1929, and the plans were approved in 1932. Since spring 2016 the owners have run a cultural and social centre there with concerts, exhibitions, lectures and workshops. Visitors must walk barefoot inside or bring their own slippers to keep the residential interior clean.
