Naučná stezka na opuštěném tělese dráhy Lupěné - Hněvkov, Educational rail trail in Lupene, Czech Republic.
The educational trail on the abandoned rail line between Lupene and Hnevkov stretches for about 2.5 kilometers and crosses the Moravska Sazava River via three bridges. The path follows the old embankment where trains once ran, and various railway structures remain visible along the route.
The railway line was constructed in 1902 to connect the Jeseniky Mountains region with Moravia and Bohemia as a key transport route. Later, the original winding path was replaced by a tunnel, which simplified and modernized the overall system.
The trail features a railway museum with a 1950s steam locomotive, mechanical barriers, and signal devices that visitors can observe. A converted freight wagon functions as an exhibition space, allowing people to explore the railway's heritage directly.
The path accommodates pedestrians, cyclists, and strollers with two covered rest areas and bicycle stands along the way. The surface and gradient allow comfortable access for most visitors, making it suitable for walking or cycling at a leisurely pace.
Five information stations scattered along the route explain geomorphological changes and the evolution of local plants and animals. These educational points turn a simple walk into a journey of discovery about the region's natural history.
