Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Chapel in Vevčice, Czech Republic

The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands in the village of Vevčice in the Znojmo District, on the territory of the Roman Catholic parish of Mikulovice u Znojma. It is a small rural chapel built between 1928 and 1930, with a memorial plaque to the victims of the First World War hung on its wall.

Construction of the chapel ran from 1928 to 1930, with work halted in 1929 and finished the following year. The altar was bought in 1931, and on Sunday 14 September 1932 at 9:00 the Mikulovice priest Josef Arnošt Voves consecrated the building. In 1995 Vilém and Marie Černí had a bell made and donated it to the chapel; it was blessed on 1 October 1995 and belongs to the municipality.

The chapel is still used for occasional weddings, village gatherings, pilgrimages, Christmas celebrations and funeral farewells. A memorial plaque on the facade lists the victims of the First World War.
