Hodonín, Administrative district in South Moravian Region, Czech Republic
Hodonín is an administrative district in the South Moravian Region and encompasses multiple municipalities across a varied landscape. The area extends along the Morava River with a mix of flat agricultural zones, forests, and connections to neighboring communities.
The district was created in 2003 as part of Czech administrative reforms. This reorganization brought together multiple municipalities under a single administrative structure.
The district contains multiple protected national landmarks, including the Slavic archaeological site of Mikulčice-Valy and Milotice Castle near the Slovak border.
The area is well connected by main roads I/54 and I/55, which link the various municipalities and neighboring regions. This road network makes it straightforward to reach different parts of the district.
The district manages both agricultural zones and industrial sectors, with notable oil fields and former lignite deposits transported through the Baťa Canal system.
