Vodní nádrž Výrovice, reservoir in Plaveč, Czech Republic
Výrovice Reservoir is a water body on the Jeviska River, located about 9 kilometers north of Znojmo. The water spreads across roughly 4 kilometers with a gentle shoreline, shallow beach areas for swimming, and surrounding mixed forests, all contained by a large earthen dam.
The reservoir was built between 1979 and 1983, serving multiple purposes since its completion. It began as an irrigation project for surrounding farmland but later became important for recreation and flood control in the area.
The name reflects the water's path as it curves around the surrounding hills. Visitors often see families gathering at the shore for picnics and children playing in the shallow areas, showing how local life moves at a calm pace around the water.
The lake features a wide sandy beach with gentle entry into the water, especially suitable for children, and has restrooms, a small snack stand, and parking. A campground with tent and caravan spaces sits right at the shore, making longer stays convenient.
Some visitors do not realize the lake occasionally has greenish water caused by natural algae blooms that change seasonally. This occurrence is typical for large reservoirs and fades as water conditions shift with the seasons.
