Glass House, Nový Bor, Corporate glass headquarters in Nový Bor, Czech Republic.
The Glass House is a corporate office building wrapped in around 1,400 semi-transparent glass tiles that cover its outer surfaces and create visual depth. The structure merges two restored 19th-century timber structures with contemporary extensions that frame the glazed core.
The building emerged from renovation of historic structures that once served the local glass manufacturing industry, updated with modern design elements. This transformation reflects how traditional crafts adapted to contemporary needs and architectural trends.
The architecture integrates traditional slate-shingle patterns from the Česká Lípa region into contemporary glass design, connecting past craftsmanship with modern techniques.
The building houses office spaces, a ground floor cafe, and a specialized four-story testing area for large fixtures. The facility combines daily workplace functions with a space designed for demonstrations and work with oversized items.
The glass panels covering the exterior shift in appearance throughout the day as natural light interacts with the surface in different ways. These optical effects make the building look different depending on the time of day and weather conditions.
