Tučapy Castle, Château in Tučapy u Soběslavi, Czech Republic

Tučapy Castle is an L-shaped building with small towers on its corners, standing in Tučapy u Soběslavi. Its ground floor is vaulted, while the first floor has ceilings with fabions and stucco decoration. The château is surrounded by a large two-level park enclosed by a wall.

A fortress at Tučapy is first documented in 1407, when Konrád z Tučep held it. It was rebuilt as a château in the early 18th century under Antonín Obytecký z Obytec and again at the end of that century under Jiří Vavřinec z Escherlachu. Prosper Antonín Berchtold z Uherčic bought Tučapy in 1800 and died there on 7 April 1807; the present form dates from 1873.

The name Tučapy appears in 1407 with Konrád z Tučep, who held the older fortress on the site. The Berchtold family owned the estate from 1800; Prosper Antonín Berchtold died here on 7 April 1807. The château and its grounds have been a protected cultural monument since 21 May 2021.
