Propustek nedokončené železnice Děrné sever

The incomplete railroad culvert in northern Děrné is a stone-vaulted structure that carries a small stream beneath the planned railway foundation. Built from natural stone, the structure was never used for train traffic since the railway project remained unfinished.

The culvert was built between 1873 and 1874 as part of a planned railway line linking Prussia and Hungary. A major financial crisis halted construction, leaving the project incomplete and the structure unused.

The stone vault shows engineering techniques from the 19th century that were common in this region at that time. Visitors can experience how important transportation projects were for people and how they shaped the landscape.

The culvert sits in a forested area and can be reached by hiking forest paths. A natural spring called U Tunelu marks the location nearby and helps with finding the site.

This structure is part of a group of abandoned railway structures scattered across the region from the unfinished 19th-century project. Today these remains form a silent reminder of a transportation plan that never came to be.
