Tvrz Lipina

Tvrz Lipina is a fortified house that rises as a prominent earthwork from the surrounding meadow and is encircled by a visible ditch. The site occupies several distinct areas, with the mound forming the most recognizable feature in this flat landscape.

The fortified house likely originated in the 14th century as a defensive structure in the region. It later became part of the Brumov estate but was eventually abandoned after losing its strategic importance.

Brothers Jan and Mikuláš Onšík occupied this fortress during the early 15th century, participating in regional politics through letters to Constance.

The site is located in open meadowland and is visible from a distance, which helps with orientation when visiting. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear for uneven terrain, as the ground can sometimes be muddy or soft.

The southwestern side displays the best-preserved traces of the original fortification and reveals details about medieval construction methods. This area is worth examining closely to understand how the structure was built and reinforced.
