Stráně u Kochánek, Natural monument in Kochánky, Czech Republic

Stráně u Kochánek is a protected natural area in the Central Bohemian region with varied elevation and diverse geology. The terrain displays different soil types and rock formations that support distinct plant communities alongside one another.

Stráně u Kochánek was declared a natural monument on 23 June 2012, protecting 3.896 hectares in the Kochánky cadastre north of the village. The designation covers juniper stands on heathland and calcareous grasslands together with broad-leaved and narrow-leaved dry grassland habitats.

The site draws local visitors and nature enthusiasts who come to experience the different landscapes and understand how the land was shaped over time. People use the paths here to observe the relationship between the terrain and the plants that grow in each area.

The area is equipped with marked trails that lead through different parts of the protected site. Information panels along the routes explain the geological formations and plant life, helping visitors understand what they are seeing.

The site displays a rare combination of rock formations and plant types found only in certain parts of Central Bohemia. These features make it a valuable example of the area's geological history.
