The Monument to the Victims of the 2nd World War stands in the Jablunkov arboretum near the confluence of the Ošetnice stream and the Lomná river. Its centrepiece is a larger-than-life sandstone statue of Hygie, carved by the academic sculptor Jan Tříska, set on a cuboid plinth. In her right hand, under her arm, she holds a book inscribed HUMANITA; in her left hand she holds a bouquet of flowers.

The sandstone statue of Hygie, also called Humanita, was unveiled in the 1950s as a memorial to 80 members of the Brno-based association Humanita pro zemi Moravskoslezskou, murdered by German Nazis between 1939 and 1945. The association had contributed substantially to the development of the Jablunkov arboretum and the Jablunkov lung sanatorium. The sculptor was Jan Tříska (1904–1976).

The statue is called Hygie, after the Greek goddess of health, and also Humanita. In her right hand she holds a book inscribed HUMANITA, in her left a bouquet of flowers. The monument honours 80 members of the Brno-based association Humanita pro zemi Moravskoslezskou, murdered by the Nazis in 1939–1945; the association helped develop the arboretum and the Jablunkov lung sanatorium.

The memorial is easily reached on foot along a walking path through the arboretum and can be visited in any season. Wear comfortable shoes since the route passes through planted areas, and allow time to read the informational plaques that provide context.
