Buffalo Harbor State Park, State park in Erie County, US
Buffalo Harbor State Park is a public recreation area on the shore of Lake Erie in Erie County, New York State. It offers boat slips, launch ramps, fishing spots, picnic areas, and a playground, all arranged along the waterfront.
The site was part of Buffalo's working port for many decades before the state stepped in. New York State purchased it in 2013 and opened it as a public park, marking a clear turn in how this section of the waterfront was used.
The park sits along the edge of Lake Erie and draws locals who fish, walk, or simply watch the water from the shore. The mix of boats at the docks and families at the picnic tables shows how connected everyday life in Buffalo is to the lake.
The park has ample parking for both cars and boat trailers, making it easy to arrive by road. Those coming by boat will find all the facilities they need right at the marina.
Buffalo Harbor State Park is the first marina in the entire New York State Parks system to be run directly by the agency itself. This was a new direction for the agency, which had never managed a marina before opening this one.
