The Sheboygan County Historical Museum contains more than 30,000 artifacts displaying the heritage and development of Sheboygan County through multiple dedicated buildings.
The museum opened in 1923 within the David Taylor House, which previously served as the county sheriff's office and jail between 1915 and 1936.
The museum exhibits include displays about Native American history, ice harvesting, maritime activities, circus history, local sports, and agricultural developments in the region.
The museum welcomes visitors from February through October, Monday to Friday 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 10 AM to 3 PM, with adult admission at 10 dollars.
The museum complex incorporates the 1864 Weinhold Family Homestead, 1890s Schuchardt Barn, and 1867 Bodenstab Cheese Factory, presenting early commercial cheese-making implements.
