Volcano Bay, Water park in Orlando, United States
Volcano Bay is a water park in Orlando built around a 200-foot artificial mountain shaped like an active volcano. The site divides into several areas with pools, slides, and water attractions designed for different age groups and preferences.
The resort opened this facility in late May 2017 as its third park site alongside two existing theme parks. During the following twelve months, the facility welcomed around one and a half million visitors and expanded Universal Orlando's offering.
The park displays South Pacific motifs in its buildings, food offerings, and rest areas, evoking the feel of a tropical island. Guests encounter palms, thatched roofs, and wood carvings that carry the theme throughout all zones and create a relaxed holiday atmosphere.
Upon arrival, guests receive a wrist-worn device that allows them to book queues while exploring other areas. The system displays waiting times and lets visitors move around the facility instead of standing in line.
One of the main attractions combines water slide technology with roller coaster mechanics and guides guests through tunnels inside the central volcano structure. This design allows riders to travel uphill sections while gliding through the mountain.
