Wonderland Cave, Cave in Bella Vista, Arkansas.
Wonderland Cave is an underground cavern in Bella Vista featuring a large natural chamber with a poured concrete floor and a substantial bar fixture. The formation extends roughly 300 feet into the earth and was specifically adapted for nightclub operations.
The cave opened as a nightclub in 1930 and attracted notable performers during its decades of operation. The venue changed ownership multiple times before closing in 1995 and has remained inactive since then.
The chamber served as a performance space for jazz musicians and became a gathering place for local entertainment and social events throughout the twentieth century. Its role as an underground venue reflects how communities once used natural spaces for cultural expression.
The cave has been closed to the public since 1995 and cannot be visited. The property is currently under private ownership and access is not available to tourists.
In 1931 the Arkansas State General Assembly held an official legislative session inside the cave chamber. This unusual governmental gathering demonstrates the site's importance beyond its role as an entertainment venue.
