Churchville Reservoir, body of water
Churchville Reservoir is a man-made lake in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, created by damming Mill Creek to store water. The body of water spans roughly 73 hectares and sits surrounded by woods, meadows, and open fields, with roads crossing over its surface.
The reservoir was constructed in 1942 to ensure reliable water supplies during dry periods for the local community. Its creation coincided with a period of expansion in regional water systems across the area.
Direct access to the water is restricted since the reservoir serves water storage purposes, but visitors can use trails around the site. The grounds are well-maintained and offer opportunities for walking, bird watching, and enjoying the natural setting.
Originally called Springfield Lake, this water body played a key role in protecting local water supplies and is managed today by Essential Utilities. The Churchville Nature Center now uses the grounds for environmental education and wildlife protection.
