Kia Kima Scout Reservation, Scout camp in Hardy, Arkansas, US
Kia Kima Scout Reservation is a scout camp on 400 acres of wooded land in the Ozark Mountains with two main areas: Camp Cherokee and Camp Osage. The grounds include lodging, training spaces, and outdoor facilities designed for youth of different ages and skill levels.
The camp was founded in 1916 by Bolton Smith, and the original property is listed on the Arkansas Register of Historic Places. Its establishment came during the early growth period of the scouting movement in the United States.
The name comes from the Zuni language and means Home of the Eagles, honoring the Native American connection to this region. This choice reflects how the scouting movement has drawn on local traditions when shaping its camps.
The camp operates mainly during summer months with programs tailored to different age groups and skill levels. Visitors should be prepared for wooded terrain, changeable mountain weather, and exploring much of the grounds on foot.
The Ozark Venture Base was established in 1995 and offers specialized outdoor programs for older scouts and venturers. This facility extends opportunities beyond traditional scouting activities with a focus on advanced challenges and adventures.
