Ark Encounter, Biblical theme park in Grant County, United States.
The site is a Christian theme park in Grant County, Kentucky, featuring a full-scale timber replica of Noah's biblical ark. The construction measures 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet tall, spread across three decks filled with exhibits, replicas, and interactive areas for visitors of all ages.
Construction began in December 2010 under the leadership of the Christian organization Answers in Genesis and opened after more than five years of work. The site opened its doors on July 7, 2016, and has since become a major destination for religious educational tourism in the region.
The interior recreates scenes from biblical accounts, with a focus on Noah's story, including animal enclosures and living quarters that illustrate life aboard the vessel. Visitors encounter a Christian interpretation of ancient texts aimed at families and believers who wish to deepen their understanding of Old Testament narratives.
The grounds are open six days a week from morning until early evening and closed on Sundays, with hours varying slightly by season. Plan several hours for a comfortable visit, as the exhibits span three extensive levels, and comfortable shoes are recommended.
The wooden construction is considered the largest timber-framed building worldwide and consists of 132 separate bays distributed across multiple stories. Much of the timber used came from sustainably managed forests in the region, giving the structure an added local dimension.
