Adirondack Lake, body of water
Adirondack Lake is a reservoir in Hamilton County covering about 192 acres with an average depth of 7 feet, reaching nearly 20 feet at its deepest point. Nine small islands dot the water, and a shoreline of roughly 16 miles winds through forested terrain fed by streams that eventually flow into Lake Abanakee.
The lake is easily reached via Byron Park boat launch on Route 28 south of Indian Lake, with shore fishing also available at the park and town beach. Both paddling with canoes and kayaks and winter ice fishing are popular activities, making visits practical year-round.
The lake is known for its healthy populations of perch and bullhead, making it surprisingly productive for a small water body. An interesting note is that grass carp caught here cannot be kept and must be released immediately.
