Cal Pal

Cal Pal is a traditional single-family home in Ordino featuring wooden beams, stone walls, and distinctive covered galleries spanning multiple levels of the structure. The building demonstrates characteristic construction methods used in the Pyrenean region during its era.

The building was founded in 1347 as an inn under Bernat Escoter before being transferred in 1435 to Joan Pal with a requirement to reside there permanently. This ownership change reflects property patterns and living conditions in Andorra during its early period.

Today the building functions as a cultural center where visitors can see exhibitions about Andorran identity expressed through art installations and historical artifacts. These displays help people understand how the region sees itself.

The north-east facade displays intricate carved human faces on its roof beams, a rare example of medieval Andorran decorative craftsmanship. These carvings demonstrate the artistic skill of artisans who incorporated such details into their stonework.
