Founded by Spanish conquistadors in 1540, it's known as the 'white city' due to its buildings made from a type of white volcanic stone.

Arequipa has an international airport with daily flights from Lima, the capital of Peru.
Known for 3 surrounding volcanoes, it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
