Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Grand mosque in United Arab Emirates
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is an architectural marvel located in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates.
Constructed between 1996 and 2007, it was designed by Syrian architect Yousef Abdelky.
The mosque is a key place of worship for daily prayers, Friday gathering and Eid prayers.
It can accommodate over 40,000 worshippers and visitors at a time.
The mosque features 82 domes, over 1,000 columns, 24-carat gold gilded chandeliers and the world's largest hand-knotted carpet.
