Jermuk, Mountain spa city in Vayots Dzor Region, Armenia.
Jermuk is a mountain city with mineral springs flowing at about 2080 meters elevation, surrounded by mountains and forests in southern Armenia. These waters emerge naturally from underground sources and give the town its character and purpose.
The place was first documented in the 13th century by historian Stepanos Orbelian, who mentioned it in his writings about medieval Sisakan Province. This early record shows that people recognized the value of the natural springs long ago.
The Armenian Apostolic Church shapes daily life through Surp Gayane, a modern house of worship built for the local community to gather and pray.
Regular buses connect the town to Yerevan, covering about 53 kilometers, making it easy to reach without a car. Summer and early fall offer the best conditions for visiting, with pleasant weather and good road access.
The mineral springs here emerge at different temperatures naturally, which drew people seeking natural remedies for generations. Today water extraction facilities still process these springs for various uses.
