Պատվո բլուր, Memorial monument in Gyumri, Armenia

The Hill of Honor (Armenian: Patvo Blur) is a military cemetery and memorial complex in Gyumri, Armenia, with the Chapel of St. Archangel Michael. An arch symbolizing Armenian-Russian friendship, built in 1855–1856 on the orders of General Nikolai Muravyov, precedes the entrance. Between 156 and 240 officers of the Russian Imperial Army who fell in the Russo-Turkish wars of 1828–1829, 1853–1856 and 1877–1878 are buried here, among them generals Pyotr Kovalevsky, Mikhail Grabbe, Ilya Chelokayev and Prince Alexander Gagarin.

The cemetery was established for officers of the Russian Imperial Army killed in the Russo-Turkish wars of 1828–1829, 1853–1856 and 1877–1878; between 156 and 240 officers are buried here, among them generals Pyotr Kovalevsky, Mikhail Grabbe, Ilya Chelokayev and Prince Alexander Gagarin. The entrance arch was built in 1855 (1856 in Armenian sources) on the order of General Nikolai Muravyov, commander of the Caucasian Corps, when Gyumri was named Alexandropol. Between 1956 and 1975 the cemetery was levelled, its tombstones destroyed or reused for construction, and a children's sanatorium and a swimming pool were built on the site. The restored complex and the Chapel of St Michael the Archangel were opened on 20 August 2010 in the presence of Dmitry Medvedev and Serzh Sargsyan, under the organisation "Deed of Honour" led by Andranik Nikoghosyan and Viktor Krivopuskov.

The name "Hill of Honor" is used in both Russian and Armenian (Patvo Blur). The entrance arch, built in 1855–1856 on the orders of General Nikolai Muravyov, is presented as a symbol of Armenian-Russian friendship. The restored complex was opened on 20 August 2010, and the Chapel of St. Michael the Archangel was consecrated the same day.

The complex stands in Gyumri, the city called Alexandropol when the entrance arch was built. The restored memorial and the Chapel of St. Michael the Archistrategos were opened on 20 August 2010, so the present layout dates from that reconstruction. Look for the recreated 1910 monument to Russian soldiers who fell at Kars, sculpted by Boris Mikeshin.

The memorial also contains a replica of the Monument to Russian Soldiers Fallen at the Capture of Kars, sculpted by Boris Mikeshin in 1910; the original stood in Kars and was blown up by the Turks in 1918, and it was recreated here during the restoration.
