Charles Aznavour Square, Gyumri, City square in Gyumri, Armenia.
Charles Aznavour Square is a rectangular plaza in northern Gyumri surrounded by commercial and residential buildings. Five major streets converge at this location: Vazgen Sargsyan, Missak Manouchian, Khanjyan, Garegin Nzhdeh, and Ilya Repin.
The square was built and fully renovated in 2000, forming a key part of the city's reconstruction following challenging decades. It joined two other central plazas to reshape the heart of the city during this period of renewal.
The square is named after the French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour, with a statue by sculptor Samvel Petrosyan marking its center. Locals and visitors gather here as one of the city's main meeting points throughout the day.
The square is easy to find as a major junction point where several streets meet in the city center. Visitors will locate numerous shops, cafes, and seating areas throughout the space.
The square functions as a public gathering venue for celebrations and events throughout the year, beyond its role as a traffic hub. This transforms it into more than just a passing point, making it a dynamic meeting space for the city's cultural moments.
