Cotuahusi canion, Canyon in Peru
The Cotahuasi Canyon is one of the deepest canyons in the world, located in the province of La Union in Arequipa, Peru.
Formed by the Ocoña River more than three million years ago, the Cotahuasi Canyon has preserved evidence of prehistoric human settlements dating back 10,000 years.
Cotahuasi Canyon is home to various indigenous groups such as the Quechua and Aymara who've settled along its slopes for generations.
The canyon serves as a major tourist spot for hiking, trekking, and river-rafting.
At approximately 3354 meters deep, Cotahuasi Canyon is around twice as deep as the Grand Canyon.
