Arenillas Ecological Reserve

Arenillas Ecological Reserve is a protected nature area along Ecuador's southwestern coast near the Peruvian border, characterized by dry tropical forest and mangrove ecosystems. The landscape displays the vegetation adapted to this drier coastal environment, with walking paths that allow visitors to explore the different habitats on foot.

The area was originally designated as a military reserve before being converted into an ecological protection zone under Ecuador's national conservation system. This shift marked a major change in how the land was managed and used.
