Marcos Paz, Buenos Aires, Rural settlement in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina.
Marcos Paz is a rural settlement in Buenos Aires Province situated about 48 kilometers west of Buenos Aires City at 26 meters elevation. It combines residential neighborhoods with agricultural areas across the surrounding landscape.
The settlement grew around a railway station named after Vice President Dr. Marcos Paz, who died during the 1868 cholera epidemic. The railway became central to the area's early development and growth.
The town reflects the heritage of European immigrants from Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, and Portugal who settled here in the early 1900s. This mixed background remains visible in how residents live and interact today.
The Sarmiento Railway Line and Bus Line 136 connect Marcos Paz with Buenos Aires and neighboring municipalities. These connections make it easy to travel to surrounding towns and explore the region.
The municipal flag was created in 2001 by students from Technical School Number 1 'Juan XXIII' and incorporates symbols representing the region's rural character. This design emerged from a school project that strengthened local identity.
