Caaguazú Department

Caaguazú Department is an administrative region in eastern Paraguay spanning approximately 11,500 square kilometers and divided into 23 districts. Coronel Oviedo serves as the administrative center of this area.

The region received its current name in 1945, marking the end of an earlier naming period. This renaming followed decades of using a previous designation from the early 20th century.

The local population maintains Guaraní customs visible in regional celebrations and everyday practices. These traditions shape how communities gather and mark important moments throughout the year.

The region provides basic medical services through clinics and health centers located throughout the territory. Visitors should expect rural terrain and consider service availability when traveling to remote areas.
