Araucária, Industrial municipality in metropolitan Curitiba, Brazil
Araucária extends across 469 square kilometers of land at an elevation of 897 meters, featuring residential neighborhoods and commercial districts within Paraná state.
The municipality emerged from a settlement called Tindiqüera, receiving its official designation in 1890 through State Decree Number 40 under Mayor Manoel Gonçalves Ferreira.
Russian, Polish, and German immigrants arrived in 1876, establishing communities that shaped the local traditions and architecture visible throughout the municipality.
Located 22 kilometers from Curitiba, Araucária maintains direct road connections to major transportation networks and contains numerous educational facilities for its 146,214 residents.
The municipality earned recognition as Paraná's Symbol City and established international connections through its sister city relationship with Wrocław, Poland.
