Cornélio Procópio

Cornélio Procópio is a municipality in northern Paraná state, positioned at an elevation of 655 meters above sea level. The city spreads across roughly 635 square kilometers and shows a mix of rural and urban character.

The city was founded in February 1938, named after Colonel Cornélio Procópio de Araújo Carvalho who shaped the region's economic growth. It emerged from economic activity expanding into northern Paraná during that period.

The city serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese, with religious buildings scattered throughout that shape community life. These institutions are central gathering places where locals mark important moments and celebrate together.

Francisco Lacerda Junior Airport and the central bus terminal provide connections to major Brazilian cities like São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Both facilities make it straightforward to reach other parts of the country.

In March 1931, the future King Edward VIII visited this Brazilian city and received a local reception. This visit remains a notable moment in the town's past.
