Cine São Carlos, Historic movie theater in São Carlos, Brazil
Cine São Carlos is a movie theater housed in a heritage-listed building in downtown São Carlos with two screening rooms and a combined seating capacity of 540 seats. The screens show both international releases and Brazilian films throughout the week.
The building was originally constructed by Italian immigrant Pietro David Cassinelli, who also established furniture manufacturing operations in the city. It first operated as Polytheama Theater before the municipal government acquired it in 2009 and renamed it Cine São Carlos.
The theater serves as a gathering place where locals come together to watch films and spend time with friends and family. It plays an important role in the city's cultural life as a social meeting spot.
The theater is located at Rua Major José Inácio 2154 in the city center and is easily accessible on foot. The venue is well connected to public transportation and parking is available nearby.
The building was designed and constructed by an Italian immigrant who made his fortune in furniture manufacturing and invested his wealth into several architectural projects across São Carlos. It stands as an example of the architectural vision brought by foreign entrepreneurs to Brazil during that era.
