Estádio Urbano Caldeira, Football stadium in Vila Belmiro, Santos, Brazil
Estádio Urbano Caldeira is a football stadium in Vila Belmiro, Santos, Brazil, with room for over 16,000 spectators in its stands. The playing field measures roughly 106 by 70 meters and is surrounded by four covered terraces.
Santos FC opened the stadium on October 12, 1916, with a win against Clube Atlético Ypiranga, starting the long story of the club at this site. In 1933, the ground received its official name to honor Urbano Caldeira, a former player and chairman of the club.
The ground is also called Vila Belmiro, taking its nickname from the neighborhood where it stands. Fans gather here on match days and fill the stands with singing and flags while the team plays on the green pitch.
The entrance sits on Rua Princesa Isabel 77, and all payments inside must be made electronically, as cash is not accepted. Visitors should have their cards or phones ready for purchases at the stands and kiosks.
In January 2023, the funeral ceremony for Pelé took place here, with thousands of people coming to pay their last respects to the late footballer. The coffin stood on the pitch, surrounded by flowers and club flags.
