Vila Mimosa is a red-light district on Rua Sotero dos Reis in Praça da Bandeira, North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. It occupies a former refrigerated warehouse of about 2,500 m², subdivided into bars on the ground floor and rooms for sexual services above. The front opens onto the street, while a narrow covered passage runs between the two sides of the square. Yellow and blue awnings mark the entrances.

Prostitution in the area dates to the Empire (1822–1889), when Polish and French women were brought to Estácio. In 1920 prostitutes were confined to the Mangue; by 1929 there were about 3,000. In 1943 around 500 buildings were demolished for Avenida Presidente Vargas. The current warehouse on Rua Sotero dos Reis was bought in early 1996 after a planned move to Gramacho failed.

Vila Mimosa takes its name from an earlier location, Vila Mimoza, spelled with a z in the Portuguese of the time. The Rio de Janeiro Prostitutes Association was founded there, and in 1987 Gabriela Leite and Lourdes Barreto organised the First National Meeting of Prostitutes. Only cisgender women are accepted, and a plain-clothes security team paid by the brothel owners patrols the street.

The complex sits on Rua Sotero dos Reis, about one kilometre west of the old Mangue site, with its front section opening onto the street. On Fridays and Saturdays the street is closed to traffic, and a plain-clothes security team paid by the brothel owners patrols the area. Most houses operate around the clock.

Vila Mimosa was where Gabriela Leite and Lourdes Barreto organised Brazil's First National Meeting of Prostitutes in 1987, and where the Rio de Janeiro Prostitutes Association was founded.
