Parque da Cidade de Niterói

Parque da Cidade de Niterói is a large green space situated on Morro da Viração hill at an elevation of about 270 meters. The park features walking paths, viewing areas, and open fields that overlook both Guanabara Bay and the Rio de Janeiro skyline.

The park was established in 1976 on land that once served as a lookout point during the early colonial period. Its development marked the transformation of this historical site into a modern recreational area.

The park serves as a gathering place where locals engage in outdoor recreation and sports such as paragliding and cycling. It reflects how the community values access to green spaces within the urban setting.

The park is accessible by walking via Estrada da Viração in the São Francisco neighborhood, with daily hours from morning to late afternoon. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and come prepared for varying weather conditions, especially when exploring the higher elevation areas.

The park features two specialized paragliding ramps that double as viewing platforms overlooking both the Atlantic Ocean and the bay. Many visitors are unaware that these ramps, even without paragliding, offer some of the best places to spend time in the space.
