Cachoeiras de Macacu

Cachoeiras de Macacu extends across 956 square kilometers of land, featuring multiple waterfalls and natural formations within the Atlantic Forest ecosystem.

The municipality developed around water resources and environmental preservation, leading to the establishment of Três Picos State Park in 2002.

The region maintains traditional festivals celebrating local heritage while integrating environmental education programs through its numerous ecological stations.

Visitors can access various waterfalls including Tenebroso, Sete Quedas, and Barba through marked trails, with guided tours available from the municipal center.

The territory contains 46,350 hectares of protected areas, including half of Três Picos State Park and 76 percent of Paraíso Ecological Station.
