Paulo César Vinha State Park, Nature reserve in Guarapari, Brazil.
Parque Estadual Paulo César Vinha is a nature reserve covering 1,500 hectares of coastal land with dunes, lagoons, and wetlands along the Atlantic shore. The protected area includes different ecosystems that range from waterside zones to sandy areas, creating varied habitats for plants and animals.
The reserve was first established in 1990 as Setiba State Park and renamed in 1994 to Paulo César Vinha State Park. The name change honored a biologist whose work protecting this coastal land left a lasting impact on conservation efforts.
The visitor center runs educational activities where locals and tourists learn about environmental conservation through videos and displays. These programs help people understand why protecting this coastal landscape matters.
Marked trails spanning about 4 miles (6 kilometers) start from the main parking area and lead to beaches, lagoons, and viewing spots throughout the park. Wear comfortable footwear and stay on designated paths to protect the fragile ecosystems.
Caraís Lagoon displays a naturally reddish water color caused by chemical reactions between local plant roots and the water. This rare appearance makes this particular lagoon stand out from other water bodies in the region.
