Teatro Carlos Gomes

Teatro Carlos Gomes is a theatre in downtown Vitoria featuring neoclassical architecture with cast iron columns that support the balconies and galleries in a balanced arrangement. The building showcases an elegant facade and interior structure where the columns create a sense of order and symmetry throughout the space.

The theatre was built in 1927 following a fire that destroyed the earlier Teatro Melpomene on the same site. Construction incorporated salvaged cast iron columns from the earlier building, linking the new structure to its predecessor.

The ceiling paintings were created by artist Homero Massena and represent an important moment in Brazilian artistic expression from the early 20th century. Visitors can observe these artworks that define the interior and reflect the creative vision of that era.
