Atlantic Forest, Biome in Brazil.
The Atlantic Forest is one of the richest forests in the world in terms of biodiversity.
Covering an area that included over 1,000,000 km² in Brazil alone centuries ago, it now encompasses only about 13% of its original size.
Although this biome has been heavily exploited, it still houses a vast variety of fauna and flora, some of which can't be found anywhere else on Earth.
It's a major source of water for most of southeast Brazil, despite facing loss through deforestation and urbanization.
Its unique plants have adapted to grow in acidic soil and its global biodiversity has made it a key priority for conservation.
