Praia da Pitinga

Praia da Pitinga is a beach in Arraial da Ajuda with reddish rock cliffs that rise above the waterline and frame the sand. Coconut palms provide shade, and when the tide recedes, shallow pools form between coral reefs that invite swimming.

The beach gained attention in the 1980s when international travelers arrived in the region and helped establish Porto Seguro as a tourist destination. This discovery spurred local development and transformed it into a recognized stop for visitors.

To reach the beach, visitors take a ferry from Porto Seguro to Arraial da Ajuda and then drive or walk a short distance to the waterline. The best time to visit is during low tide, when the pools become accessible and exploration feels safer.

A natural sand causeway separates a small lagoon from the open ocean and creates two distinct water zones for swimming. This feature appears only at certain tide levels, making each visit different.
