Praia do Espelho

Praia do Espelho is a beach in Porto Seguro where natural pools form during low tide, creating calm water that reflects the sky and surrounding cliffs. The shallow waters stay clear and protected by the rock formations that line the shore.

The beach was originally known as Curuipe before receiving its current name, which references the fishing families who settled in the area. The place has maintained its ties to traditional fishing practices and the region's maritime past.

Local restaurants here serve fresh seafood prepared using traditional Bahian recipes passed down through families. The food reflects the region's connection to the sea and its long history of fishing communities.

The beach is located about 90 km (56 mi) from Porto Seguro airport, with the last 20 km (12 mi) traveled on unpaved roads. Visitors should prepare for longer travel times and bring sturdy footwear if arriving by road.

During new and full moons, the natural pools create mirror effects on the water surface with exceptional clarity. These tidal phenomena happen predictably and offer temporary moments where the surroundings reflect perfectly in the water.
