Currais Novos

Currais Novos is a municipality in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte, situated on elevated terrain in northeastern Brazil. The town provides various facilities including hospitals and medical clinics that serve the local population.

The settlement began in 1755 when Colonel Cipriano Lopes Galvão established a farm in Data Tororó, starting what would become the community. The area gained municipal status in 1890, becoming an officially recognized administrative entity.
