Paulista

Paulista is a municipality along the Pernambuco coast that spreads across both developed urban areas and natural landscapes. The territory includes Maria Farinha Beach, coconut groves, and Janga and Pau Amarelo neighborhoods, which sit near the water.

The place took its name from Manoel Álvares de Morais Navarro, known as 'Paulista', who received land grants in the late 17th century. His acquisition of the Paratibe and Maranguape parishes became the foundation for the area's later growth.

The municipality celebrates its heritage through the official anthem composed by Joel Andrade, which references the local landscapes and industrial development.

Visitors can access beaches with artificial reefs and water recreation throughout the area. An industrial park in the Paratibe neighborhood shapes the local economy and is visible while exploring.

Paulista maintains the highest Human Development Index among municipalities in the Recife metropolitan area, with a population exceeding 334,000 residents.
