Piripiri, Municipality in Piauí, Brazil.
Piripiri is a municipality in the state of Piauí in northeastern Brazil. The town is organized around a central district with several neighborhoods, each with its own character and local services.
The settlement began in 1844 when Father Domingos de Freitas e Silva built a house and chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Remedies. This religious foundation became the core around which the community developed.
The name comes from a grass species that once grew near ponds and covered the original farm where the settlement started. This connection to nature remains part of how locals identify their town.
The town has several districts like Centro, Fonte dos Matos, and Morro da Saudade that can be explored on foot. Visitors will find local services and shops concentrated in the central area.
Part of the Serra da Ibiapaba Environmental Protection Area, established in 1996, extends into the municipal territory. This protected zone reflects the ecological richness of the region.
