Miller's Point, Coastal headland and beach in Simon's Town, South Africa.
Miller's Point is a coastal headland and beach in Simon's Town where mountains meet the sea along a scenic road. Large granite boulders and sheltered coves dot the shoreline, creating multiple swimming spots and natural tidal pools throughout the area.
A whaling operation began here in 1825 and continued for about 25 years until the practice became prohibited in the region. The coastal location made this an ideal site for this maritime industry.
The former Molteno family residence now functions as a restaurant, marking the transformation of this maritime site into a recreational destination.
This place has a boat launch ramp, a tidal pool with a water slide, and picnic areas along the shore. At low tide the natural pools become more accessible, and there is adequate parking nearby.
Between July and November, southern right whales gather with their calves in two deep pools just north of the point. This natural gathering makes this beach a special viewing spot without extra effort required.
