Kazungula Bridge, Bridge in Southern Africa
The Kazungula Bridge is a road and rail bridge over the Zambezi river, connecting Zambia and Botswana.
It was officially opened on 10 May 2021, replacing a ferry service that had been the primary means of crossing the river.
The bridge represents a significant development in regional integration within the Southern African Development Community.
The bridge has reduced travel time for many traders, as it bypasses the need to pass through Zimbabwe and Namibia.
The Kazungula Bridge is one of the longest bridges in Africa, spanning 923 meters.
